UPS Runtime Estimator

Estimate how long network equipment may remain online during an outage—and compare the full load with an essential-equipment-only scenario.

Runs locally in your browser • No data uploaded

1. UPS capacity

Use the output ratings printed on the UPS or manufacturer specification sheet.
Used to estimate apparent load (VA). If unknown, 0.90 is a reasonable planning assumption for modern network power supplies.

2. Runtime method

A runtime point from the UPS manufacturer is the preferred basis.
This interpolates from one known runtime point. Use the manufacturer’s complete runtime chart whenever available.
Default 65% accounts for high discharge rate and UPS cutoff/design losses.

3. Connected equipment

Enter measured watts when possible. Mark devices that should remain powered in the essential-only scenario.

Planning estimate—not a guaranteed runtime.Actual runtime depends on the exact UPS model, load curve, battery chemistry and age, temperature, charging state, power factor, and UPS configuration. Confirm critical designs with the manufacturer’s runtime chart and an on-site controlled test. Never use this tool to size life-safety, medical, emergency, or other mission-critical power systems.
